What does human life represent? – In one respect, human life represents a collection of several lives, i.e., a collection of past existences, good or bad. This is the reason why a person carries within themselves strengths, abilities, desires, and talents – the result of the distant past. Some of them must be developed, while others must be corrected.
People are born, grow up, marry, and die without knowing why this happens. Some think that all that happens in their lives is the result of the Divine order and arrangement. In fact, few processes are carried out by the power of the Divine laws. For example, marriage is a human process. It is in the human course of things to get married. When they get married, people ruin their relationships. When the fields are harvested, the grain is stored in the granary and the straw in the hay loft. Most of it goes to the hay loft, and less – in the granary. In this case, the hayloft symbolizes the human, and the granary symbolizes the Divine. In the Divine world, marriage is also mentioned, but it is radically different from this one on earth. That is why it is said in the Scripture: “He who is worthy of the future life neither marries nor is given in marriage. ”
What is the reason for broken relationships between people? – selfish love. They talk about love, about harmonious relationships, but they only think about themselves; they want everyone to love them. To love someone means to purify them. Love manifests itself in an absolutely pure environment. It does not manifest itself in an impure environment. When one comes to inner love, the first condition for its manifestation is purity. Without purity, one cannot receive any of the blessings of love. Everyone knows external love, but few know the innermost love. Who can write a love letter, cast a loving glance, or say a sweet word? Only the pure of heart can cast a loving glance. And only the pure can perceive a loving glance. The impure is blind to the loving glance and deaf for the loving word. The pure person is not afraid of anything—they are courageous and decisive.
Many people want to know what sort of thing is love . Don’t rush ; you can’t understand it immediately. Sow it in the ground, as you would sow wheat, and as it grows, blossoms, and bears fruit, then you shall understand what it is. Explore the manifestations of love consciously and peacefully, so that you do not fall into a false belief. Someone loves you, and you enjoy their love. This love is not their own; it comes from some exalted being who visits the person periodically. While this being is present in them, they love you. Once it abandons them, their love ceases. As you do not grasp the manifestations of love, you suffer, you get distressed, you are dissatisfied with them. The loss of love is illusionary. After some time, the exalted being will visit them again, and they will once more show their love for you. Therefore, never think that love has ceased. It is continuous, passing from one person to another, aiming to give something to everyone, to uplift everyone.
Rejoice when love visits you. Rejoice when you are loved. Some people regret that they were loved or that they have loved someone. Whoever you have loved or whoever loved you, do not regret it. More or less, love always gives something from within. If an ordinary person has loved you, you have become ordinary; if someone mentally gifted has loved you, you have become talented; if a genius has loved you, you have become a genius. Since all people have certain strengths, talents, and abilities, this proves that someone has loved them. Love transforms both the one who loves and the one who is loved. Love cures all disabilities: it does not tolerate the blind, the deaf, the mute, the lame, the stupid, or the ignorant. Whatever weaknesses and shortcomings it notices in a person, it corrects everything. Love requires one thing—a complete trust. If you doubt it, it closes itself off to you and gives nothing.
It is said in the Scripture: “This is eternal life, to know You, the One True God.” The key to immortality lies in knowing God. Knowing things implies experiencing them. When you experience and know a person, the exchange between you and them is proper. Knowing God implies knowing the Supreme cosmic Love. Once you know Him, you love Him, you see His presence everywhere and in everything. Nature comes alive for you, and you become one with it.
Love is a collective, not an individual act. When a person loves, all people, all angels and archangels – the whole heaven, do love along with them. The person rejoices because he has become a conduit of love. Whatever benefit he receives from love, he passes it on to others. The light of love is great. Great is its fire and warmth. Whatever obstacles it encounters on its path, it burns and destroys them. Whoever is surrounded by the fire of love, nothing can affect them – they live in complete safety.
Rejoice when the eye of love watches over you. There is no creature that the eye of love does not watch over and think about. Whoever wants to receive more than the rest – creates misfortune for themselves. Everything thrives and flows in love. What we call Providence is nothing but the watchful eye of love. Until the manifestations of Great Love come, one takes various forms in order to learn about even the smallest of its manifestations. Only that way, one will gain a complete and clear understanding of the Whole and its manifestations through love.
How will you show your love for the poor? – By feeding them. – For the ignorant? – By teaching them. – For the sick? – By helping them get well. How will two exalted beings show their love for each other? They do not have the needs of the hungry, the ignorant, or the sick. As waters flow into each other, so the souls of exalted beings who love each other intertwine. The water from the rivers flows into the seas and oceans; part of the ocean and sea water evaporates, goes into the air, from where it descends again to the earth as water and again goes back to the oceans. Just as there is circulation between the waters, so there is a circular overflow between the souls of exalted beings.
Love is a power that is given freely, without violence or compulsion. Those who receive it must understand and appreciate it. If a person cannot appreciate the love that is given to them, love leaves them without losing anything. It immediately goes to another place where it is appreciated, and there it is beneficial. In order to understand and appreciate Great Love, a person must come to the unity of life, to perceive all manifestations as a whole, indivisible Beginning. Then two people who love, will love a third; the three will love a fourth; the four will love a fifth, and so on.
It is said in Scripture: “I will remove from you your heart of stone and will give you a new one.” This verse refers to love. When love enters a person, it gradually replaces the old, coarse garment with a new one made of soft, fine fabric. The heart of stone is replaced by a heart of flesh that is responsive to human suffering and hardship. When it touches a stone, the person who loves, helps both the stone and everyone who comes into contact with it. Love spreads its benefit on everything. If someone in a state of despair touches this stone, their despair would immediately disappear. They perceive a trace of the love of the one who initially has touched the stone.
The human race is only now advancing towards Cosmic Love. Only just now humankind is entering actual life—the life of Supreme, cosmic Love.
