We talked about John Lewis because Ardella is reading his biography and she inspired us to read it as well. He was a towering figure in the American Civil Rights Movement, a leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and a U.S. Congressman known as the “conscience of Congress.” He inspired generations with his commitment to justice. He was a powerful voice for equality until his death in 2020, leaving a legacy of courage, nonviolence, and dedication to building a “beloved community”. We talked about his reciting “Invictus” to his siblings.
