Dear Friends,
FIrst of all many thanks to David Lorimer for a very profound and illuminating talk.![]()
It was truly a special session, and I know many of us felt the depth and breadth of David Lorimer’s reflections. There are very few people who can move so naturally between such wide horizons while maintaining such clarity and insight.
David’s talk opened a space for reflection that feels especially relevant in our current moment, how to hold both the beauty, meaning, and Beinsa Douno’s spiritual inheritance we have received, and the undeniable challenges unfolding in the world around us.
It clearly resonated with everyone, many have already asked for the slides and the recording. As promised, I am sharing the recording and slides below:
What stayed with me most is the question of direction: whether we are collectively moving along an upward path, a positive outlook (as we mentioned Benjamin Zander), or something more uncertain. At the same time, I was deeply encouraged to see younger participants join us, I feel strongly that we are called not only to reflect on this question, but to actively help shape that upward movement.
I hope you will take the time to revisit the t:alk and reflect further. I would love to continue the conversation, feel free to share any thoughts or impressions.
At the end we listened to David’s favorite concerto: Hélène Grimaud: Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 4, Op. 58 (Orchestre de Paris, Christoph Eschenbach), and we have only a partial recording. ![]()
